Empowering Farmers in Kenya

Tech Innovation

Scalable digital solutions advancing climate-smart agriculture, financial inclusion, and technology-enabled livelihoods for underserved communities across Kenya

Introduction to Ke Devries Company Limited

Ke Devries Company Limited is a Kenyan innovation-driven enterprise focused on advancing climate-smart agriculture, digital financial inclusion, rural enterprise development, and technology-enabled livelihood systems for underserved communities. The company works at the intersection of agriculture, financial technology, climate resilience, and inclusive digital transformation with a strong commitment to empowering smallholder farmers, youth, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The organization is developing scalable digital solutions that address structural barriers affecting rural agricultural systems, particularly limited access to finance, weak market systems, low adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices, poor access to agronomic knowledge, and fragmented agricultural value chains.

Our Vision

Ke Devries Company Limited envisions a digitally empowered agricultural ecosystem where underserved farming communities can access affordable financial services, quality agricultural inputs, climate-smart advisory systems, market opportunities, and digital agricultural infrastructure regardless of their geographic location or socio-economic status.

Flagship Digital Innovation Initiative

Climate-Smart Youth Financial Inclusion, Input Access, Agronomic Skills Development and Marketing Platform

This flagship initiative is designed to strengthen resilience, productivity, and financial inclusion among smallholder farmers in Homa Bay County and beyond. The project aligns with the Development Innovation Ventures (DIV) Stage 1 Pilot funding framework by testing a scalable and evidence-driven digital solution capable of addressing systemic agricultural and financial inclusion challenges at scale.

The innovation combines digital financial services, AI-supported farmer profiling, climate-smart agricultural advisory systems, alternative farmer credit scoring, market linkage support, and inclusive digital delivery mechanisms into one integrated ecosystem.

Integrated Platform Components

Digital Financial Services

Expanding financial inclusion for rural youth and smallholder farmers through accessible digital financial tools, alternative credit scoring, and mobile money integration.

AI-Supported Farmer Profiling

Data-driven farmer profiling to personalize services, improve credit decisions, and deliver targeted agricultural and financial support.

Climate-Smart Agricultural Advisory

Digital advisory systems promoting climate-resilient farming practices, agronomic skills development, and improved access to climate-smart agricultural inputs.

Market Linkage Support

Connecting underserved farming populations to market opportunities and strengthening participation across fragmented agricultural value chains.

Inclusive Digital Delivery

Project Objectives

Improve financial inclusion for rural youth and smallholder farmers

Improve access to climate-smart agricultural inputs

Increase adoption of climate-resilient farming practices

Expand access to agronomic skills development through a digital agricultural service delivery platform

Integrate and improve market linkage opportunities for underserved farming populations

The initiative recognizes that climate vulnerability, financial exclusion, and weak market participation are deeply interconnected challenges requiring integrated and scalable solutions rather than isolated interventions.

SACCO Institutional Partnerships

In addition to directly serving individual farmers, the platform will onboard local SACCOs as institutional partners and equip them with modern FinTech infrastructure to digitize member onboarding, automate savings and loan tracking, improve agricultural credit scoring, integrate mobile money systems, and strengthen climate-smart agricultural financing.

Inclusive Reach

Deliberate prioritization of youth, women, farmer groups, cooperatives, and persons with disabilities across all programme activities.

Climate Resilience

Combining climate resilience, financial inclusion, agricultural commerce, and rural digital infrastructure into one scalable ecosystem.

Regional Impact

Contributing toward a more inclusive, resilient, data-driven, and commercially sustainable agricultural economy in Kenya and the wider East African region.

Pilot Implementation

The pilot project will initially target 5,000 smallholder farmers in Homa Bay County with deliberate prioritization of youth, women, farmer groups, cooperatives, and persons with disabilities. Through phased implementation and evidence generation, the project seeks to establish a scalable model capable of supporting broader replication across Kenya.
